ABOUT ME
My name is Aleks Wasowska and I am the owner of Viadua Working Poodles. As a child I have always preferred the company of animals and in particular dogs and horses, I grew up in Poland and moved to the UK in 2007.
I have been a poodle owner and lover since 2004 when I got my first miniature poodle called Daisy. We did a variety of dog sports together, a bit of obedience, agility and anything else that we wanted to have a go at, she's the reason I fell in love with poodles and I will forever be grateful to her. Daisy sadly passed away in February 2021 at the age of 17.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
The love of poodles began in 2004 with my miniature poodle Daisy. In 2014 my toy poodle Roux joined the family, she also taught me a lot about dogs with a lot of energy and drive!
Then in 2018 I finally got my first Standard Poodle, L'eau, a silver bitch that I have always dreamt of.
She is the one who sparked my interest in training poodles as gundogs. Far too clever and driven for her own good, she needed a job, so I decided to join the local gundog club, therefore putting all that energy into good use.
And that is how my love for working poodles as gundogs began.
OUR AIM
My aim is to produce dual purpose poodles that are fit for purpose as working gundogs with beautiful structure strictly adhering to the breed standard, allowing us to show off our dogs in the show ring.
I believe poodles are far too underestimated and their original purpose as duck hunters is being forgotten.
Too many poodles are now being produced purely for the show ring and the breed is slowly losing its natural abilities as a brilliant versatile gundog.
I'm on a mission to showcase just how capable poodles are and to change the stigma of the poodle being just a 'poncy show dog'.
They're a serious working dog, a glamorous show dog and the best family dog you could ever wish for.
